KILN is not coastal apartment living reconsidered, it’s something rarer, a building with a material story, in a suburb that knows the difference. Revilo Projects needed a brand that could match that same honesty, industrial at its core, coastal by address rather than aesthetic.
We drew the identity from the same process that gives the building its name. A kiln takes raw clay and fires it into something built to last, and that transformation shaped every decision, from the wordmark down.
The type is custom and industrial, blocked forms interrupted by fine fracture lines that reference brickwork and kiln-fired materiality. At its centre sits a bold K monogram, its 45-degree angled ends echoing the kiln’s own geometry, carried through signage and smaller applications.
The palette pulls straight from the facade, limestone, heritage brick, weathered mortar and charcoal, layered with tactile, textured materials in print for a sense of weight and permanence.
An open house A-frame carries the mark out onto the street in weathered red and cream. The brochure moves from the building’s material story to a dedicated materials spread, paired with a curated finishes box, timber, blackened steel, sandstone, brick and stone, so buyers can hold the building in their hands before they ever stand in front of it.
Kiln rewards a second look, brick that warms under afternoon light, arches that frame the street rather than close it off, retail spaces that draw people in rather than keep them out. Four households call it home, and the businesses beneath them give the ground plane its own pulse, the everyday texture of a place that works as hard as it looks.
